Wonki Chung Composition Recital - Five Strings

The composition recital "Five Strings" by composer Wonki Chung, who writes and interprets the aesthetics of Korean music focusing on the traditional string instrument Hyangbipa, will be held at the Pungnyu Sarangbang of the National Gugak Center. 🎶 This performance is based on the study of ancient documents including the 15th-century music treatise "Akhak Gwebuom", and the improved 5-string bipa crafted by Jo Jun-seok, a National Intangible Heritage musical instrument maker. From Hyangbipa solos to diverse ensemble arrangements with gayageum, geomungo, daegeum, piri, and janggu, it presents seven deep and exploratory new works blooming on five strings.
